Services - Organizational Leaders & Teams

Many organizational challenges have to do with getting employees to manage the tension between contributing as individuals, being part of teams, and understanding their role within the larger organizational system. One specific challenge is employee retention, which is often driven by an employee’s relationship with their manager and their capacity to develop and use their unique combination of strengths in a specific role.

I will work with you to go beneath the surface quickly to identify the deeper and unconscious forces that may be at work and offer tools to bring to light, gain insights from, and integrate these insights in a way that results in new thinking and behaviors that work towards the desired organizational goals.

  • Individual or Small Group Leadership Coaching - Helping leaders understand that if they want different behavior from employees, the most powerful way to bring that about is by changing one's own perspective and behavior is a key area of focus. Digging deeper into a leader's psychological type, strengths, and blind spots can illuminate new strategies for stubborn challenges.

  • Workplace Culture - After a discussion about what might be holding an organization back from achieving its various goals, I get to work to harness the wisdom already present, exploring and appreciating how the mix of perspectives, personalities, and strengths can be mined for solutions. Specific recommendations, tools, and templates are offered to help turn insights into strategies and actions aimed at transforming the organizational culture into one that brings out the best its people to achieve both workplace goals and personal fulfillment derived from feeling valued.

  • Facilitating Conversations or Strategic Planning - Sometimes organizational leaders, teams or boards get caught in group think and their own limiting perspectives. Adept at listening and finding themes and meaning in what feels to be unproductive conversation, I believe in and find the wisdom that already exists in the chaos.

  • Small Nonprofits – Building on 12 years of experience working with nonprofits and schools, empowering them to do a better job of sharing their story, being clear about what they need, and teaching them how to strategically cultivate relationships, I bring a depth perspective to this work, and a new approach to advising nonprofits on how to create effective working relationships between and among staff, board, volunteers and donors. Most realize that nonprofits are full of well-meaning and strongly willed people who are able to get things done. Not enough attention is paid to the psychology of specific combinations of people, and leaders' capacity to  harness the combined perspectives and wisdom of people.

  • Workshops – Providing opportunities for employees to develop deeper self-knowledge, an appreciation for others’ values and perspectives, and learn new tools is a great way to increase motivation and a sense of accountability to one’s professional development. Sprinkling in some fun works even better. Helping people understand especially their blind spots when it comes to psychological type, learn how to explore how their dreams may contain clues about how to grow professionally, and how their stress may be tied to being in denial about something in their unconscious, are fresh ways to boost employee morale and grow self-awareness.
